This application collects anonymous usage data (such as feature interactions and platform type) using a random device identifier, even before you sign in. This data is used to improve the app experience.
When you sign in, your anonymous usage data is linked to your account. No personal information is collected until you sign in.
Session information is stored locally on your device to maintain your connection.
We use Google services for data synchronization.
We do not use data collected in the app for advertising or marketing purposes. The website emotion quiz is described separately below.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the product evolves beyond the beta phase.
Our service is not intended for children under 13.
Retro can read workouts only from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS and from Health Connect on Android. For each workout we read the activity type and when it started and ended. We do not read heart rate, distance, calories, steps, sleep, or any other health or fitness data type.
This never happens without your permission. It is off by default, and there are two separate switches. The second one only becomes available once you have turned on the first:
A published activity name is visible to your friends exactly like any other retro you publish, and it can trigger the same notifications to them. If you have turned on a public profile, it is also visible on your public profile page on the web. If you leave automatic sharing off, nothing derived from your health data is shared with anyone.
So that an activity can appear shortly after a workout ends, iOS briefly wakes the app when Apple Health records a finished workout, and on Android the app checks Health Connect periodically. This background access runs only while automatic sharing is switched on, and is used only for what is described above.
Your device stores the identifier of the most recently published workout so that the same workout is not published twice. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sent to analytics. It is not sold, and it is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.
You can withdraw your permission at any time: turn the switches off in Retro, or revoke access entirely in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Health → Retro, or in the Health Connect app on Android. Either stops all further reading. Activity names that were already published stay on your retro until you delete them or delete your account.
Health data is a special category of personal data under the GDPR (Article 9) and under Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Article 6). We process it only on the basis of your explicit consent, which is asked for separately from every other permission in the app.

Your answers are calculated on your device. We do not store them. If you share a result link, it carries your result and answers in its address, so anyone you send it to can open it, and the page address is visible to our hosting provider when they do.
Email address (optional, with your consent). After the quiz you can enter your email address to unlock your full emotion spread. This is only done if you tick the consent box next to the field, which is never ticked for you. We then store your email address, the language you used, your quiz result (the main emotion), the date and wording of your consent, and how many times you submitted it. We use it to send you emails from Retro about your result and product updates. You can withdraw your consent and ask us to delete your address at any time by writing to hello@digitalcharm.io, and every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe. We keep it until you withdraw your consent or ask us to delete it.
Measurement. Only if you accept, we use Google Analytics to count visits and how the quiz is used (for example which step people reach). Advertising features are off and we do not send your email address or your answers to Google Analytics. If you decline, the quiz works the same and nothing is sent. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link on the quiz page.
Result animation. The animation on your result is loaded from KLIPY, a GIF provider. Like any website file, this request shows your IP address and browser details to KLIPY. It is loaded whether or not you accept measurement. KLIPY can tell which animation was loaded, which matches your main emotion, but not your answers.
Abuse protection. To stop automated misuse of the email form we count requests per device address. We store this only as a one-way hash, not your IP address, and your hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a limited time.
Where it is processed. Email addresses are stored with Google Cloud (Firebase) and measurement data with Google Analytics, so your data may be processed outside your country. Under the GDPR and Turkish data protection law (KVKK) you can ask us for access, correction or deletion of your data, object to its use, and complain to your data protection authority.
