This application collects anonymous usage data (such as feature interactions and platform type) using a random device identifier, even before you sign in. This data is used to improve the app experience.

When you sign in, your anonymous usage data is linked to your account. No personal information is collected until you sign in.

Session information is stored locally on your device to maintain your connection.

We use Google services for data synchronization.

We do not use collected data for advertising or marketing purposes.

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the product evolves beyond the beta phase.

Our service is not intended for children under 13.

Health and fitness data

Retro can read workouts only from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS and from Health Connect on Android. For each workout we read the activity type. We do not read heart rate, distance, calories, steps, sleep, or any other health or fitness data type.

This never happens without your permission, and it is off by default:

  • Reading your workouts. Retro reads your finished workouts so it can tell which activity you did. The workout itself is never stored on our servers.
  • Sharing an activity automatically. A separate choice, also off by default. When it is on, the name of the activity (for example “Running”) is published to your retro after a workout ends. No duration, distance, heart rate or any other measurement is included or sent.

A published activity name is visible to your friends exactly like any other retro you publish, and it can trigger the same notifications to them. If you have turned on a public profile, it is also visible on your public profile page on the web. If you leave automatic sharing off, nothing derived from your health data is shared with anyone.

So that an activity can appear shortly after a workout ends, iOS briefly wakes the app when Apple Health records a finished workout, and on Android the app checks Health Connect periodically. This background access runs only while automatic sharing is switched on, and is used only for what is described above.

Your device stores the identifier of the most recently published workout so that the same workout is not published twice. It stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sent to analytics. It is not sold, and it is not shared with third parties for their own purposes.

You can withdraw your permission at any time: turn the switches off in Retro, or revoke access entirely in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Health → Retro, or in the Health Connect app on Android. Either stops all further reading. Activity names that were already published stay on your retro until you delete them or delete your account.

Health data is a special category of personal data under the GDPR (Article 9) and under Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Article 6). We process it only on the basis of your explicit consent, which is asked for separately from every other permission in the app.
